Micro Pigs

It takes many years of selective breeding to change the size of any animal, experts say 7 years is enough time, these lovely micro pigs have been bred over 15 years and go back many generations now, we have 7th and 8th generation micro pigs on our farm.  The name Micropig is a registered breed of Yucatan micropig that was breed unfortunately for scientific excersises when they needed a smaller pig.

Fun and games don't have to stop once you've grown up. Because we believe in playfulness at all ages, you'll find a new friend in your micro pigs. We are adding new information all the time to arm you with as much information as possible to make the right choices as to whether a micro pig is for you or not. One huge benefit to having a pet pig is that people with allergies shouldn't have any problems as they have hair not fur!  We have had around 3 customers with allergies wanting to buy a pet pig but worried about allergies, one of them very severe, none had a reaction or asthma attack upon touching and playing with piglets, having said this we can not guarantee it, so it is always best practice to be careful.

Please remember that micro pigs need constant companionship.

We want you and our piglets to be happy please think seriously about pigs as pets and understand the commitment before you buy.

Pet pigs are very CLEAN animals, they do not like mud living knee high in mud, mud is purely for their survival, our pigs outside of very hot summers will steer clear of rolling in mud at all times, even when they are covered in mud they do not look content, they look hot and uncomfortable just as we are when the thermostat hits 30c. They are there purely to cool themselves off and stop sunburn/overheating.  This is their only method to cool down, ours have both mud and water, but they will only use it when temperatures rise so high it is hard for all animals to cope.  The point here is that pigs should have access to mud when it is hot and they need it and also to root for minerals etc, during the winter and cooler times we dont let ours live in mud. They will love you for allowing them to live a clean, healthy and happy life.

Micro Pigs have taken 15 years to reach the small size they are now, our lines of micro pigs are bred by a handful of breeders who hold full provenace via the founder, this is so important for a buyer to know, there are many people out there putting all sorts together.

There is no such thing as a teacup pig, they simply do not exist.  The name Micro is a name generated by media interest, also defra uses the word micro pig and they are Micro Pigs when compared to their ancestors of huge size. Defra has a statement on micro pigs and it means they have been bred to be smaller than other pig species.

We strongly recommend Micro Pigs live outside in suitable accommodation, this could be in the form of a shed, wendy house, pig ark etc.  They will need barley straw to keep warm.  Some people let let their Micro Pig wander in and out the house during the day, they do like to come and say hello, not to mention a tummy tickle!!

We will be transparent on our site and put loads of pictures and videos of our micro pig parents, we are adding to our parents all the time and also building our own lines with the help of an expert.

Access to outdoor space/pen is an absolute must our recommendation is always that pigs should live outdoors with limited access to the indoors, they love the outdoors.  If you are worried about mess or smell you can fence off a pen with bark wood chip in, this will keep it pretty clean and they wont mess in their bed area.

A micro pig is a long term commitment, they do not need walking, can you spare 15 years to love and care for your new piglet.
